Larry Hornung began playing music when he was six-years old. He studied drums for many years, playing in elementary, middle and high-school symphonic and jazz bands, as well as local rock bands. With the motivation of writing original songs, he learned guitar at the age of 16.

He spent much of his 4 years at Virginia Commonwealth University writing songs between classes and jamming. After graduating in '82 from VCU and travelling the country, he returned to East and got a job with an advertising agency. He rented a house in Wilmington and formed Chex with high-school friends Brett Martin, Mike Baylis and
Bob DeGregory. They played original songs in

bars and clubs throughout Delaware. Highlights included opening for John Eddie & The Front Street Runners and Tommy Conwell and the Young Rumblers.

In 1985, with a load new songs in his notebook he formed Last Metro with Lori Citro, Clem DaVinci, Brian Burbage and Terry Kilpatrick. Relying on a set-list consisting of mostly original songs and a few covers, Last Metro played in clubs in bars in Delaware and Pennsylvania. Some of the places they played included J.C. Dobbs, City Bites and the Khyber in Philadelphia, Jocelyns in Media, PA, and Logan House, Deer Park, and other numerous venues throughout Delaware. The home for Last Metro during those days was the basement of Lyons Studios in Wilmington, where Larry spent his weekdays.
